The Elimity Insights Power Query connector allows importing data from Elimity Insights in your PowerBI environment. More specifically, the connector can currently import the following pieces of information:
- An overview of all stored queries in your Elimity Insights deployment.
- A history of result counts for each of these queries.
- An overview of these queries' most recent results.
As a first step, we recommend carefully reading the official Microsoft documentation about PowerBI custom connectors if you don't have experience with installing them. Follow these instructions to install and configure the Elimity Insights Power Query connector in your environment:
- Ensure PowerBI Desktop can load non-certified custom connectors
- Go to 'File' > 'Options and settings' > 'Options' > 'Security'
- Ensure the 'Data Extensions' setting is set to 'Allow any extension to load...'
- Restart PowerBI Desktop if prompted
- Install the Elimity Insights Power Query connector
- Download the latest version by opening the following link and logging in with your customers.elimity.com account: https://console.cloud.google.com/storage/browser/elimity-downloads/power-query-connector
- Place the downloaded `ElimityInsights.mez` file in your local `[Documents]\Microsoft Power BI Desktop\Custom Connectors` folder; create the folder if it does not exist
- Generate an Elimity Insights API token
- Navigate to the 'API tokens' menu in Elimity Insights and click the 'CREATE API TOKEN' button
- Enter a name and description for the new API token
- Note down the resulting identifier and secret
- Add an Elimity Insights data source in PowerBI
- In PowerBI, click 'Get data' and search for 'Elimity Insights'
- Provide the URL of your Elimity Insights server (e.g. 'https://example.elimity.com')
- Enter the API token identifier and secret you noted down in step 3.3
- Click the 'Connect' button and choose which tables you want to load
